Facade of Made in Catherine boutique hotel in Brussels

Made in Catherine

BOUTIQUE HOTEL - BRUSSELS, BELGIUM

Set in the historic centre of Brussels, Made in Catherine is a boutique hotel that brings together thoughtful design, local café culture and a quietly refined atmosphere in the heart of the city. Conceived as more than a traditional accommodation, the hotel feels connected to the everyday rhythm of Brussels while offering a calm retreat from it at the same time. Behind the lively café, intimate rooms unfold almost unexpectedly - warm, understated and softly removed from the energy outside. The result is a design-led stay in Brussels where vibrant city life and a quieter, more intimate atmosphere exist effortlessly side by side.

Highlights:Loacted in the vibrant heart of the city I Thoughfully design-led stay I Cafe-entrance

Made in Catherine sits in the centre of Brussels, surrounded by cafés, small streets and the constant movement of city life. Yet arriving here feels surprisingly quiet. Guests enter through the café - a lively, light-filled space where locals gather throughout the day - before passing through a discreet doorway into the hotel itself. The transition is subtle but immediate: from conversation and movement to softness, calm and coziness. It’s this contrast that defines the experience most.

Rather than following the language of conventional boutique hotels, the space feels instinctive and deeply personal. The interiors were designed by the founders themselves, shaped step by step alongside local craftsmen and creatives, with an emphasis on atmosphere over perfection. Materials were chosen for the way they age, light was considered carefully throughout the building, and every detail was approached with restraint rather than excess. Nothing feels staged. Instead, the hotel carries the quiet confidence of a place that understands exactly what it wants to be.

The influence of Brussels is present everywhere, though never too literally. The neighbourhood’s history - once shaped by markets, trade and nearby waterways - subtly informed parts of the design, from the textures and ceramic details to the open, social energy of the café downstairs.

During the day, the area feels vibrant and lived-in, while evenings settle into a softer rhythm, allowing the hotel to become a kind of refuge in the middle of the city.

What makes Made in Catherine memorable is not a single dramatic gesture, but the way everything works together quietly. The warmth of the staff, the thoughtful pace of the place, the feeling of stepping into a hotel that remains connected to real city life rather than separated from it. Mornings begin slowly over a beautifully prepared, delicious breakfast, while afternoons invite long walks through Brussels before returning to the calm of the rooms above.

For travellers looking for a design hotel in Brussels that feels atmospheric without trying too hard, Made in Catherine offers something increasingly rare: a stay that feels genuine, grounded and naturally part of the city around it. A place where hospitality feels less performed - and more simply lived.

“Once guests settle into their rooms, we want them to feel a sense of calm and tranquility, as if they were in a bubble - right in the heart of the city yet removed from it at the same time.”
